Turn a podcast episode into shorts

A good episode has a dozen moments that work on their own, buried in an hour of talk. VideoShort reads the whole conversation and pulls those moments out, so you are not scrubbing through it yourself.

How to do it

  1. 1

    Upload the episode

Use the video file of your episode, up to 500 MB. Set the video type to Podcast so scoring puts speech first.

  2. 2

    Review the suggested clips

Each clip shows its scores for hook, energy and speech. Keep the ones that make sense without the rest of the episode.

  3. 3

    Style and download

Add captions and your show name, adjust the clip in the editor, then download it.

What makes these clips work

  • Open on the claim, not the setup

Start the clip at the sentence that makes a listener curious. Cut the question or greeting before it if the answer stands alone.

  • Search for a topic

If a guest covered something specific, type that topic so matching parts rise to the top of the list.

  • Keep one idea per clip

A clip that makes one point is easier to finish and easier to share than one that drifts between topics.

Good to know

Can I use an audio-only podcast?

VideoShort works from video files. Upload the video recording of your episode.

How long can an episode be?

The upload limit is 500 MB, so very long recordings may need to be compressed or split first.

Will the captions match what the guests said?

Captions come from an automatic transcript. It can mishear names and rare words, so read them before you publish.
